General Waste: grey or black wheelie bin
We collect non-recyclable household rubbish every two weeks. Make sure your bin is out by 6am on collection day with the lid closed.
You can recycle card, paper, glass, tins and plastics.
What to put in your household rubbish bin:
- nappies
- sanitary products
- polystyrene
- crisp and sweet packets
- dog and cat waste
- tissues/ kitchen roll
- food pouches (foil lined)
- plastic film, bubble wrap and cling film
- carrier bags
- standard light bulbs (low energy ones can be taken to a recycling centre)
- coal ash and charcoal
We will not collect trade or building waste.
We will not collect your general waste bin if it has any of the following in:
- stones, gravel, rubble
- garden waste, soil
- sharp objects
- hot ashes, please let them cool before putting in the bin
- DIY home improvement waste
- carpet and underlay
- paint and engine oil
- cooking oil (this can be recycled at your nearest household waste recycling centre)
Waste collected in your rubbish bin is sent to an Energy Recovery Facility in Ardley where it is turned into electricity.
Extra rubbish
We do not collect extra household rubbish in addition to the standard bins. You can take it to Dix Pit Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
