Oxfordshire County Council Elections 2025

Elections for Oxfordshire County Council are scheduled for 1 May 2025. West Oxfordshire District Council will be running the County Council Elections in the West Oxfordshire District on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council but will be reporting to the Oxfordshire County Council Returning Officer. A centralised count will take place on the 2 May 2025.

Further information for prospective candidates and agents is available on the Electoral Commission website. Nomination sets and information will also be supplied to Agents directly from the Elections Office, please email the Elections Team if you would like to receive a nomination set.

The County Council Returning Officer will be holding briefings for prospective candidates and agents on Thursday 6 March 2025 at 5pm. Attendance can be virtually or in person at County Hall, Oxford. If you would like to attend the briefing, please email the West Oxfordshire District Council Elections Team advising if you will attend in person or virtually (colleagues at OCC will then send the link for virtual attendance).

There are no scheduled elections for the District Council or Parish Councils for 1 May 2025.

The timetable for the 1 May 2025 elections is:

  • Notice of election will be published on Tuesday 25 March, nominations can be submitted to the Deputy Returning Officer from Wednesday 26 March to the deadline of 4pm Wednesday 2 April.
  • The Deadline to register to vote for these elections must be received by the Electoral Registration Officer before 12 midnight Friday 11 April. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/register-to-vote;
  • Applications, amendments and cancellations of postal and proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, WODC Council Offices, Woodgreen OX28 1NB by 5pm Monday 14 April. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/apply-postal-vote;
  • Applications to vote by proxy at these elections must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, WODC Council Offices, Woodgreen OX28 1NB by 5pm Wednesday 23 April. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote;
  • Applications for a free Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 23 April. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.
